Blythe Danner talks Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's 'extraordinary relationship'

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin remain on great terms following their split, and no one is more proud than her mum Blythe Danner. The actress has opened up about her daughter and former son-in-law's "extraordinary relationship", saying that they continue to put their family first almost two years after they announced that they were "consciously uncoupling".

Speaking about Gwyneth during an appearance on ITV's Lorraine on Monday, Blythe said: "I've learned a lot from her. She's an extraordinary mother and such a brilliant actress. I'm hoping as the children get older she will come back to [acting] because to me there's no-one like her, she can do anything."

The I'll See You in My Dreams star added that Gwyneth's split from Coldplay frontman Chris has remained "positive" for the sake of their two children, Apple, 11, and nine-year-old Moses.

"Well you know what, they have this extraordinary relationship," Blythe explained. "The kids come first, they're supportive of one another and this isn't just 'la-di-da' positive, this is absolutely true.

"They had this conscious uncoupling which some people questioned and say, well what's that? They’ve made it work, the kids come first, the family comes first. We do Christmas and the holidays and I’m really proud of them. They’ve made it work so well."

Their continuing dedication to keeping a happy family life was evident at the Super Bowl 50 earlier in February, where Gwyneth sat in the crowd with her two children to support Chris and his band during their headline performance at the half-time show.

The amicable exes also spent Thanksgiving together with their friends and family, shortly after Chris explained in an interview with US radio host Ryan Seacrest: "Just because a romantic relationship ends doesn't mean that the other facets of your relationship have to end, or indeed, it doesn't mean they can't get better."
