Snatch Series: Rupert Grint to Headline Crackle Show

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint will headline Crackle’s new Snatch series

First announced back in April, Crackle is developing a Snatch series, based on the 2000 Guy Ritchie film. Today, Deadline reveals that the show has found a lead in Harry Potter star Rupert Grint. He’ll play a character named Charlie Cavendish. Cavedish is described by the outlet as being a “dynamic, frustratingly chaotic and utterly posh con man”.

Also joining the Snatch series are Fear the Walking Dead‘s Dougray Scott and Wicked City‘s Ed Westwick with the latter set for a recurring guest star role. Like the Cavendish role, both parts are newly developed for the Snatch series. Scott will play Vic Hill, a convict who doesn’t let his current incarceration stop him from his wheelings and dealings, while Westwick plays a nightclub owner by the name of Sonny Castillo.

Planned as a ten episode, one-hour drama, the Snatch series is, much like the television series Fargo, aimed to carry on the spirit of the setting in the original feature film, while creating a new world born from the original movie. Informed by a real life gold bullion heist in London, the show centers on a group of twenty-something, up and coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London’s underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains descend.

Production on the Snatch series is set to begin next week in Manchester, England with plans for the first episode to debut in 2017.
